Traditions

The Appletree School believes in and honors many of the Christian traditions recognized by its founders, Peter and Wilhelmina Klaassen. Our founders also believed in being hospitable to and welcoming to all traditions of faith.  Among the yearly traditions practiced at the school are a visit from Santa Claus during the school’s holiday open house for all of the children and their family members; the Nativity that the Academy-aged children present a pageant for our preschool-aged children; and an Easter egg hunt and a presentation of The Easter Story during of the time of Lent. The story involves Jesus and the story of his resurrection. With all that in mind, we do invite parents of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds to share their home traditions and cultural customs with the children of Appletree. Our PTO has organized International and USA Day events where families share with the Appletree community all that is important to their upbringing and family traditions. Such opportunities for sharing traditions are not limited to these events. We welcome you to reach out to your child’s teacher for additional opportunities. The Appletree School represents a true diverse population of children from around the world.
